FREE SHIPPING TO ANY US ADDRESS:

Most orders are shipped from my warehouse in Chelsea, Michigan.

Orders for physical items that weigh 15 pounds or less ship via UPS mail innovations for free to any US address (PO Boxes too!)  Here is how it works:

*UPS will handle your order from my warehouse in
Michigan to your local post office.  The post office
    will deliver to your door.
*Transit time is 2 to 5 days, depending upon your
     location.
*Monday through Saturday delivery.
*A postal service tracking number will be assigned to
your order which will provide detailed tracking
updates via the UPS and/or the USPS website.

Orders exceeding 15 pounds and all orders sent from my office in Oregon will be shipped using media mail with the US Post Office.  Door-to-door tracking is provided.  Transit time will be 5 to 14 days, depending on your location.

TIME-TO-SHIP WINDOW:  Once the Michigan warehouse receives your order, the shipping processing window is 2 business days.  In most cases, this processing window starts the next business day after you receive the email from me notifying you that your order is being processed.
If I am shipping from my office in Oregon, I can usually get your order out the day I receive it or the very next day.

INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING

If you are thinking of ordering books for international delivery, IT IS IDEAL IF YOU CONTACT ME FIRST.  (That way I can draw up a single invoice to cover your items and international shipping costs.)  Use the chat window in the lower-right corner of this page.

Shipping physical products to international locations will require prepayment of international shipping costs, and, in many cases, any import fees.  I am working with an international freight-forwarding service (MyUS.com) in Sarasota, Florida.  These are the advantages:

*Excellent rates--Shipping internationally is very expensive.  Using myUS.com saves up to 80% in shipping costs.  (If you frequently buy things from US vendors, you can open your own account and save on shipping all your US purchases.)

*Exact pricing--Since my books are heavy and costs to ship to different countries vary quite a bit, it makes sense to get a price that matches the exact weight of your specific order to your country.
(I do my best to accurately estimate the cost of shipping.  However, I have no control over sudden changes in shipping costs.  It is also possible that I may, on rare occasions, miscalculate the weight of your order.  When there is a significant difference between the estimated and actual cost of shipping I will invoice you for the difference.)

*Door-to-door tracking--The US post office does not offer this service consistently for international shipping and this is a big advantage of using MyUS.

*Timely delivery--The freight service ships your parcel shortly after it arrives in Florida.   Once it is shipped internationally, it gets to you pretty quickly, usually within 5 to 7 days, depending on your location.

IMPORT TAXES/FEES:  MyUS requires prepayment of any import taxes and fees (such as VAT) for any order worth less than €150.00 euros (including shipping charges) for packages shipped to any country in the European Union and some others as well, although MyUS does not publish a list.  Prepayment of import fees streamlines the processing of packages as they move through customs once they arrive in the destination country.  When prepayment of these fees is required, you will be responsible for both import fees and international shipping costs.
When import fees are not prepaid, any such fees will be charged to you once the package arrives in your country.
Note that these are NOT additional charges imposed by me, they are fees and taxes required by your country that will have to be paid one way or another.

International Shipping: step-by-step

1. Place and pay for your order for physical items OR email me first to get an idea of costs.

2. I will calculate your international shipping charges based on the estimated weight of your order and your country.

3. I will email you regarding the estimated cost of international shipping.   To save time, I will do this by sending you an invoice for the costs of shipping (or the costs of everything) from either Square or PayPal,  depending upon how you paid for your order.   You can let me know if you want to proceed with shipping by simply paying the invoice.
If you find the shipping costs prohibitive, just ignore the invoice and send me an email at midwiferybooks@gmail.com to let me know what you want to do.  At that point, you have two options.  You can apply your payment toward e-books, which don't have to be shipped.  If you choose e-books, you will receive instructions regarding how to get your download link and a small refund.  Your other option is to cancel your order and receive a full refund.

4. If you choose to proceed with your order, I will send it from my warehouse in Michigan to the MyUS warehouse in Florida.  I cover the cost of shipping within the US (just like I do with all US orders.)   Once your order leaves the warehouse in Michigan, it cannot be cancelled.  At that point, you will also be responsible for any import fees that must be prepaid to get the best shipping rate.

5. Once your order leaves my warehouse, it will take about 7 days to get to the MyUS.com warehouse in Florida.

6. I will keep you informed throughout the shipping process.

7. Once your order arrives in Florida, MyUS.com will determine the final cost of shipping based on the actual weight of your parcel as well as any import fees that must be prepaid.  They will usually ship your parcel within 1 to 3 business days after it arrives there.

8. IMPORT FEES:  After your order is received and processed by MyUS, they will let me know of any import fees that must be prepaid.  Import fees are calculated based on the value of the items and the cost of shipping.  If prepayment of these fees is not required, any import fees will need to be paid by you once your parcel arrives in your country.

9.  I will send you a separate invoice for any prepaid import fees and any excessive additional shipping costs.  That invoice will be due upon receipt.  (I have never had to ask for additional shipping costs over what I originally estimated, but if the weight were significantly off from my estimate, it might be necessary.  (This is just a heads up.)
